The ProOne (formerly Propur) company makes a variety of drinking water filters, shower filters, and whole house filters. Below are FAQs about Propur water filter systems.

ProOne (formerly Propur) Company Information FAQs

Q. How long has ProOne been in business?

A. ProOne was founded in 2011 by an entrepreneur with a vision for continual innovation for home water purification. ProOne is a Michigan-based company that distributes its water filters worldwide. In March 2021, the company rebranded from Propur to ProOne. It's the same company with the same products. Only the name has been changed.

Q. Are ProOne Water Systems products tested?

A. ProOne's water filters are tested by a certified third-party lab, Envirotek Labratories, Inc., which is certified by the state of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Its products are tested to NSF standard 42, NSF standard 53, NSF standard 231, and have also been tested for MicroPlastics removal. ProOne's G2.0 ceramic filters are NSF/ANSI – 42 component certified.

ProOne (formerly Propur) Water Filter Systems FAQs

Q. Do ProOne water filters remove Fluoride?

A. The water pitcher filter, Traveler, King, Scout and Big filters remove between 94.0% - 97.5% of fluoride (based on the fluoride type) and the ProOne Promax Counter Top & Undercounter filters remove 90%. For more information, please refer to the individual lab test results.

Q.  Do ProOne water filters remove Lead?

A.  All ProOne filters not only remove 99.9+% of Lead, but they also remove 99.9+% of other harmful metals like Arsenic, Mercury, Aluminum & Chromium.

Q.  Do ProOne water filters remove PFOA & PFOS?

A.  All ProOne filters remove 99.9+% of PFOA & PFOS.

Q.  What kind of contaminants do ProOne water filter systems remove?

A.  ProOne water filters remove over 200 water contaminants including Chlorine, Chloramines, Lead, Fluoride, Heavy Metals, VOCs, Pesticides, Pharmaceuticals, PFOA, PFOS, Micro-organisms, 1,4 Dioxane and Micro Plastics. Please refer to the lab reports for more information or contact us.

Q.  Can I use my ProOne when camping?

A.  The ProOne water pitcher filter, Scout, Traveler, Big & King water filter systems are ideal for use with just about any water source including tap, lake, stream, river, pond, and rainwater.

Q. Does ProOne use Alumina to remove contaminants?

A. While other manufacturers' water filters use Alumina, ProOne reduces/removes Fluoride, Arsenic and other heavy metals by a process called adsorption using a specially formulated carbon-based granular media inside the ProOne® G2.0.

Q. How long does it take for my gravity fed system to filter the water?

A. Since the ProOne water pitcher filter and container water filters are gravity fed, water will migrate through the filter elements and drip into the lower water storage container. The first cycle of water generally takes longer but the flow rate will increase with use.

Your flow rate will depend on your water chemistry and filter configuration. More filters will increase the flow rate.

Q. Are ProOne G2.0 filters compatible with Berkey, Alexapure, and other filter systems?

A. Yes, please refer to the chart below to find the right ProOne filter size that fits your Berkey, Alexpure, or Aquacera system.

Q.  Why is there some water left in the upper container?

A.  It is normal to see some water in the upper container.

Q.  How do I know when to change my ProOne water filters?

A.  You should change your filters when: you notice a difference in the taste of your water, you notice a difference in the flow rate, or it's close to the recommended filter life.

Q.  What is the filter life?

A.  The filter life varies based on water usage and your water chemistry. Below are estimates of filter life.

Q. My ProOne Water Pitcher Filter, Scout, Traveler, Nomad, Big or King water filter is slower now than it used to be, is it time to get a new filter?

A.  If it's been more than 2-3 months since you've cleaned your G2.0 filter and you are still within the useful filter life, then you should try cleaning your filter.

Remove your filter(s). Hold the filter(s) under cool running water for approx. 2 minutes being careful not to allow water into the stem. While doing this use the dark green side of the scrubby sponge included with your system. Scrub the entire white surface. Rinse well and reinstall. Never use soap on the filter. Do NOT allow water to enter the stem.

Q. How do I know when it's time to change the G2.0 filter on the ProOne Water Pitcher Filter, Scout, Traveler, Nomad, Big or King Models?

A. You should change your filters when you:

  • notice a difference in the taste of your water
  • notice a difference in the flow rate
  • or it's close to the recommended filter life

You may also run the “food coloring test” at any time to ensure your filters are functioning properly. To initiate this test, you’ll just need blue or red food coloring available at most grocery stores. Use liquid blue or red food coloring, not GEL.

First, empty any water from the upper and lower containers. Place a glass under the stem of each water filter element in the lower container. Place the upper container on top of the lower container and fill the upper container as usual. Place 2-3 drops of blue or red food coloring and stir.

After a short period of time, check the glasses in the lower container. If the water in the glasses is either clear or slightly tinted, your filters are functioning properly.

If you see a definite blue or red tint color water in the glass(es), that is an indication that the filters should be replaced. You may notice some blue or red tint coloring on the filters after performing the test. This is OK. Coloring should go away after a period of time or you may try cleaning the filters.

Q. Why is water leaking between the upper and lower containers?

A. This occurs only when you have filled the upper container with water still left in the lower container.

Q. Why is my ProOne spigot leaking?

A. There are several ways to stop your ProOne spigot from leaking. Check the placement of the washers and nut. Try to tighten the nut. If leaking directly from the spout, tighten the screw on top of the spigot handle.

Q. How do I clean my ProOne stainless steel?

A. You may clean the system using a 50-50% solution of white vinegar and water. Use a sponge or soft cloth. Rinse well and let air dry.

Q. How often should I clean my ProOne filter(s) and system?

A. We recommend you clean your entire ProOne system every 2-3 months. If your water has a high mineral content, we suggest cleaning more often.

Q.  How should I clean my ProOne G2.0 filter?

A.  To clean your ProOne G2.0 filter, remove your filter(s).

Q.  My ProOne ProMax Filter is leaking

A.  If your ProOne ProMax counter top or under counter filter is leaking, try these steps:

  • Shut off the water supply
  • Remove the housing on the filter that is leaking
  • Find the O-Ring and reverse it
    • O-rings are used to block a path which may otherwise allow water to leak.
    • The O-ring can be found in the groove of the housing or may be in the groove of the white head where the housing attaches
    • Reversing the O-Ring should help seal off the leak
  • Reattach the housing
  • Turn water supply back on and see if it is still leaking

Q.  What if I don't use my ProOne for an extended period?

A.  If you are not using your ProOne for an extended period, drain the system, remove the filter element, and allow to air dry. Wrap the filter in a terry cloth towel to store. Do not use plastic for storing the filter.

Discard the first supply of water when you restart use if using a gravity water filter or flush for about 3 minutes if using the ProOne Promax Countertop, Undercounter or FS10.
